My Purpose, Values, and DEI Statement
Purpose:
To push myself and those around me to achieve the utmost level of success, both in terms of professional success in our academic studies and business endeavors, and personal success by pursuing happiness and emanating kindness.
I believe that the best version of myself includes both my professional and personal life, which is why I put an emphasis on doing my best work in the classroom but also working on myself and growing as a person and worldly citizen. I also take great pride in the people I surround myself with, both friends and fellow students, and try to do whatever I can to help them achieve the best version of themselves as well.
Values:
1. Commitment and Dedication
Everything I do, I do 100%, whether on behalf of myself, my friends, or a client. When I take on a commitment, my dedication will not waver until I have completed it to the best of my ability.
2. Kindness and Respect
We have all had moments where we feel insignificant or “less than,” and I have committed myself to not make anyone else feel that way because of my words or actions. When I work with others, I treat them with the respect they deserve and then go out of my way to treat them with kindness and consideration.
3. Integrity and Humility
I do not take my promises lightly, so I will uphold my values and morals to the highest degree, refusing to cut corners. The truth is I am only human, however, and not perfect or an expert, so I will always be willing to admit to my mistakes and gladly learn from others.
DEI:
When working on a project or simply trying to be a better person, it is vital to implement multiple perspectives and be sensitive to everyone’s unique experience. I fully recognize my privilege and commit to using it as a dedicated ally to amplify the voices of those who are not listened to the way they should be, specifically those in the LGBTQ+ community and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color). I will not attempt to speak for anyone else but will instead listen to their experiences and do my best to integrate their grievances into my everyday life and the work that I do, completely open to further constructive criticism.
In today’s world, there is no more standing by and letting workplace culture continue to induce fear and oppression and I refuse to be a part of that. I am excited that some long-needed changes are finally producing tangible results, and, while I take pride in the work I have personally done, I applaud those who have been working on tackling these issues for decades with little recognition. My commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion is reflected in my work and my personal life as it is something that I deeply value and therefore take quite seriously.
